ABOUT THE GAME
A first-person action-adventure in time and space!
When Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the first John Carter book, A Princess of Mars, he never imagined the influence it would have on our culture. The fantastical creatures and rich technology he created were great backdrops for a classic romance.
Without Carter, there would be no Flash Gordon, Skywalker, even Superman. So many writers, scientists, and filmmakers were influenced by Burroughs’ characters.
Our aim is to honour the long tradition of the original works, keeping the world’s spirit and creating a video game that is exciting and fun to play.
“Players will experience a wealth of emotions in our game. On Earth, Carter is the Third Man, on Mars he’s John Wayne!“
Frazer Nash, Publisher.
What we have added:
We decided to change the first part of the story, moving the timeline, so that Carter is now a US Army Captain in WWII rather than a retired Yankee soldier.
The main reason for this is that we love wargames as much as scifi, and we love the conspiracy theories about Nazi UFOs and those secret bases!
In our game, we want to play at ‘spies’ in a tense ‘cat and mouse’ setting and then propel the action to the outrageous world of Barsoom, the name that Burroughs gave to Mars. Combining two of our favourite genres.
We had a sci-fi expert work on the game action on Mars and an historian write our WWII section. We follow A PRINCESS OF MARS pretty closely for the Mars section and will have Sola, Woola, Tars Tarkas, and many other great characters.
Like all adaptations, there will be a few things we don’t include, maybe a few things, beloved to fans of the original book, but the intention is to honour the source material we love so much.
Early work has been started and a few in-game animations created to test our character models. We are now working with our small team to create key art, production designs and develop the game’s vision.
Using Epic’s Unreal Engine, the game will be smooth and elegant, gritty and atmospheric, giving the player a rich experience.
We hope you like the end results.
